ERL Alum Prof. Xinding Fang to Receive SEG Karcher Award

Congratulations to ERL alum Dr. Xinding Fang, who will receive the 2019 J. Clarence Karcher Award from the Society for Exploration Geophysicists for “significant contributions to the science and technology of exploration geophysics by a young geophysicist of outstanding abilities.” The honor recognizes his work in several areas borehole wave propagation to anisotropy to rock physics and fracture characterization. Dr. Fang received his PhD in ERL / EAPS in 2013 working with Dr. Michael Fehler. He worked at Chevron to gain industry experience before returning to academia, and is now an Associate Professor at Southern University of Science & Technology in Shenzhen, China. The Karcher Award has gone to severl ERL-affiliated researchers in recent years including Dr. Yunyue Elita Li in 2018, Dr. Yingcai Zheng in 2015, and Dr. Alison Malcolm in 2012.
