ERL Students Learn From Industry Experts Over IAP

January 25, 2017

Independent Activities Period (IAP) is MIT’s inter-term period each January, during which students can take special compact classes on a wide variety of subjects.  This IAP, ERL/EAPS hosted two workshops on cutting-edge techniques taught by industry experts.  Dr. Ali Dogru (pictured above), a Saudi Aramco Fellow who is also a Visiting Scientist at MIT, taught “Modeling Multiphase Fluid Flow in Porous Permeable Media”.  Dr. David H. Johnston (pictured below), an ERL alum and Senior Research Advisor at ExxonMobil, taught “Practical Applications of Time-Lapse Seismic Data”.  Dr. Johnston’s class was organized and sponsored by Tech Geophysical Society (MIT’s student chapter of SEG), with support from Chevron.
