Former ERL Associate Director Dr. Michael Fehler is one of three people chosen to receive a Presidential Award this year from the Society of Exploration Geophysicists. SEG President Arthur Cheng chose to honor Dr. Fehler for his work on SEAM, the research arm of SEG which organizes collaborations among industry, government, and academia to address major industry subsurface challenges.
Accoring to an announcement from SEG, "Mike has been involved with SEAM since its inception. He served as the project manager for SEAM Phase I and was instrumental in helping SEG obtain a grant from the Department of Energy to support the extension of Phase I into Phase I Elastic. Mike has been involved as project manager for several other SEAM projects, including the current CO2 Project. His work and his knowledge of SEAM data is second to none and he is the cornerstone of SEAM."
The award will be presented on 8/27 at the IMAGE conference. Dr. Fehler served as a Senior Research Scientist in ERL/EAPS and Associate Director of ERL, and remains part of our lab as a Research Affiliate.
