Biographical Overview
Dr. Seiphoori was a postdoctoral researcher in ERL from 2015-2017. He is back in ERL as a Research Affiliate working with Prof. Brian Evans since 2018. Prior to EAPS he held a postdoctoral associate appointment in the Penn Sediment Dynamics Lab at the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn). He obtained his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne (EPFL). He has worked on problems ranging from Multiphysical coupled behavior of soils and shales, to colloidal and transport behavior of particulate geomaterials and contaminants. His research interests include, Shale Geomechanics, Thermo-hydro-mechanical coupled behavior of geomaterials, Swelling clays behavior, Sediment transport, and Seismic soil-structure interaction. His research on mechanical analysis of geomaterials, from the nano-scale to the macro-scale of engineering applications, has been published in various journals including Géotechnique, Clays & Clay Minerals, and recently the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
