Biographical Overview
Dennis McLaughlin received both his MSE (1967) and PhD (1985) from Princeton University. He spent his early career in various positions as a Consulting Engineer in the field of water resources. He joined MIT's Civil and Environmental Engineering Department (CEE) in 1984, and has held the title of Chair of H.M. King Bhumibol Professor of Water Management since 1997. Prof.McLaughlin's principal fields of interests include: Ground Water Hydrology, Water Resource Systems and Environmental Data Assimilation. He teaches several courses related to his field of interest. He is currently on the Editorial Board of Advances in Water Resources and the Associate Editor of Stochastic Hydrology and Hydraulics. He has had numerous other assignments on Government Committees and Task forces related to his expertise within water resources. In addition he is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union (AGU).
