Dr. Liyanage was a postdoctoral associate in ERL / Civil and Environmental Engineering from 2019 to 2021, and is now a research associate at University of Pau and Adour Countries. Before joining MIT, she received her Ph.D. and M.Eng in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London. In general, her research interests are continuum scale flow and transport in porous media. Previously, she worked with single phase systems to experimentally quantify flow dynamics. At MIT, she'll be shifting her focus to multiphase systems and working on experiments to investigate gravity fingering during water infiltration in soil.
