Opportunities
Internships
Coming soon! We are working on setting up a listing of internships available at our Founding Member companies and other partners in industry.
Founding Members
We appreciate the continued support from our Founding Members, who enable us to push forward earth science essential to the energy transition. We work closely with these companies to design and formulate exciting research projects. Founding Members participate in the annual meeting and have preferred access to researchers and students. For information about becoming a Founding Member company please contact our lab director at erl-director@mit.edu.
Sponsored Projects
In addition to becoming Founding Members, companies can sponsor specific projects in ERL. To learn more about sponsoring a project, please contact our lab director at erl-director@mit.edu.
Graduate Students
ERL seeks exceptional graduate students interested in developing the fundamental science and engineering needed for the energy transition. Students must apply and be accepted through the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS) or another academic department. Check out the principal investigators on our “People” page to determine which of our researchers are doing work that matches your interests, and feel free to contact them directly to learn if they are accepting students. Then, check out the application requirements for their home department:
Research Scientists / Postdoctoral Researchers
ERL encourages spontaneous applications from exceptional candidates at the Postdoctoral and Research Scientist level, in all areas of expertise of our faculty. Qualified applicants should submit an e-mail application that includes the following: a research statement, a CV including a list of publications, and contact information for three references. The materials should be submitted to our lab director at erl-director@mit.edu. If you are already a research scientist or postdoc at MIT doing work relevant to the energy transition, feel free to reach out to erl-info@mit.edu about getting involved in ERL.
Faculty Positions
ERL faculty are appointed through the EAPS or another academic department. MIT faculty positions are generally posted on AcademicJobsOnline.org. If you are already a faculty member at MIT doing work relevant to the energy transition, feel free to reach out to our lab director at erl-director@mit.edu about getting involved in ERL.
Staff Positions
All other open positions in ERL will be posted at careers.mit.edu.
Supporting our Work
If you our interested in directly supporting our work please consider a gift to the ERL Discretionary fund (MIT fund 2991700) via the “Donate” button at the top of this screen or the MIT Giving website.
