Biographical Overview:

Germán A. Prieto is an Associate Professor of Earth Sciences at Universidad del Rosario in Colombia and a Visiting Assistant Professor in ERL/EAPS. Hereceived his BSc in Geology from the National University in Bogota, Colombia in 2002. He then went to UC San Diego, where he received his PhD in Earth Sciences in 2007. While at UCSD, he worked on Earthquake source physics and state-of-the-art signal processing methods. After completing his PhD, he spent two years as a postdoc at Stanford University, working on imaging using interferometric methods. In 2009 Dr. Prieto worked as an Assistant Professor in the Physics Department at Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia, expanding his work to intermediate-depth earthquakes.
