Biographical Overview
Doğan Kalafat is senior principal researcher at Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute (KOERI). His PhD degree from the Istanbul University. He is former manager of the Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute National Earthquake Monitoring Center (NEMC) of Bogaziçi University and responsible for the operation of the seismic network (2000-2015 June). His research focuses on Seismic Networks and Monitoring, seismicity patterns, moment tensors and focal mechanism, local and sea bottom BB seismic network design and implementation. He worked in many national-international research projects on monitoring seismicity and aftershocks. At present, he operates KOERI seismic network around the Turkey. He is managing a Sea Bottom Observatory seismic array in the Marmara Sea within the framework of JICA/SATREPS funded projects. He is the author of more than 330 publications.
